Ontario Child Benefit Programs Every Tamil Family Should Know
Canada offers generous financial support for families with children. The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is a tax-free monthly payment for families with children under 18. For 2025–26, eligible families receive up to $7,786 per year for each child under age 6, and up to $6,570 for each child aged 6–17. The amount scales down based on family income, so most newcomer families qualify for meaningful support.
To receive the CCB, you must file a tax return every year — even if your income is zero. Apply for the CCB through CRA MyAccount or on paper when your child is born. Ontario also has the Ontario Child Benefit for lower-income families, and the federal Canadian Dental Care Plan now covers children under 18 in families earning under $90,000/year.
